Mayor declares Public Health Emergency due to COVID-19

Pursuant to Chapter 418 of the Texas Government Code, the Texas Disaster Act of 1975, as the presiding officer of the City of Shavano Park City Council, the Mayor is designated as the emergency management director of the City and may exercise the powers granted of the Governor on an appropriate local scale. As a result, Mayor Bob Werner declared a local state of disaster and public health emergency for the City of Shavano Park aimed at protecting public health and containing the spread of COVID-19 (link).

Mayor addresses the declaration in this letter.

Pursuant to §418.108(b) of the Texas Government Code, the state of disaster and public health emergency shall continue for 7 days unless renewed by the City Council.


The City of Shavano Park will hold a special City Council meeting next week to possibly extend or renew this order.
