1237 water customers receive water service either from Shavano Park or the San Antonio Water System (SAWS).  Residents of Shavano Creek and Bentley Manor including the commercial areas on Loop 1604 and Lockhill Selma receive water and sewer services from SAWS. ISO Rating
The Insurance Services Office, Inc (ISO) collects information on municipal fire protection efforts in communities and analyzes the data using a Fire Suppression Rating Schedule (FSRS). ISO will then assign a Public Protection Classification (PPC) ranging from 1 to 10, with 1 being the best and 10 the worst. On June 10, 2016 the City of Shavano Park Fire Department received a classification of 2, effective November 1, 2016. The City received 80.07 out of 109.76 points possible in an audit conducted February 17, 2016. The Water Department plays a key role in providing needed water for fire suppression and was graded as a part of the ISO audit along with the Fire Department.

This rating entitles the residential and commercial property owners within the City of Shavano Park to receive the maximum credit on their insurance premiums (Class 1 and Class 2 rating receives the same credit.). Property owners should contact their insurance providers to inquire if their premiums will be impacted by the new classification rating. With a Class 2 ISO rate, Shavano Park property owners are estimated to realize a 10 to 15% decrease in property insurance premiums.
