The City Council and staff would like to thank all those who attended the February NW Military Hwy public hearing sponsored by the Planning and Zoning Commission. This type of meeting is an essential part of our City’s three year plus Town Plan process intended to involve citizens as we work to manage the future while maintaining the rural feel of the community.

The City of Shavano Park's General Election is May 12, 2012. There are three alderman seats up for appointment on the City Council. Citizens interested in running for these positions may obtain a candidate packet beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012 until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, March 5, 2012.

City Hall will be closing in observance of Christmas and New Year's. Solid waste services will not be affected by these closures.

City Hall will be closed Thursday, November 24, 2011 and Friday, November 25, 2011 in observance of Thanksgiving.
In addition, citizens with a regularly scheduled Thursday solid waste pick-up will have no pick up Thursday, November 24, 2011.

On Thursday, September 29, 2011, the City’s contractor—Ecko Concrete Construction will begin work on the concrete drainage swale located at 115 Cliffside Drive.

On Tuesday, September 27, 2011, (weather permitting), the City of Shavano Park is scheduled to begin an application of seal coating on Harvard Oak, Possum Oak, and Pagoda Oak. The application is a mixture of sand and an asphalt solution that will help protect the integrity of the street. Scheduled work times for the street work will be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

On Thursday, September 22, 2011, (Weather permitting), the City of Shavano Park will begin preparation of the Rustler’s Butte, Bobcat Bend, Ottawa Run, and Canter Gait cul-de-sac areas in advance of a seal coat application. This application is a mixture of sand and an asphalt solution that will help protect the integrity of the street.

The City of Shavano Park conducted public hearings on August 30, 2011 and September 12, 2011 on a proposal to increase the total tax revenues of the City of Shavano Park from properties on the tax roll in the preceding year by .915 percent (less than 1 percent).
