 CITY OF SHAVANO PARK JOB OPENINGS

 
Police Chief
Job Requirements: The City of Shavano Park, Texas, population approx. 3,100, located in Bexar County, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Chief of Police. Under the general direction of the City Manager, this executive level position is responsible for departmental budgeting, supervision of all aspects of police operations including but not limited to directing patrol, traffic, criminal investigations, and animal control. The selected individual will be expected to bring effective leadership to the department, while maintaining a customer service focused community-oriented policing program. We seek an individual who will have a visible presence in the community, and develop strong relationships and partnerships with community groups, neighboring departments, associations and businesses. Candidates who have a proven record of effective leadership, ability to form good working relationships with members of the police department, City staff, members of the community, and who have experience in budgeting, managing personnel, overtime, and training in all aspects of law enforcement operations are encouraged to apply. 
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Police Administration or a related field from an accredited college or university (or equivalent experience) is required.

Training: Minimum Requirements: Current TCLEOSE Advanced Peace Officer certificate. Graduation from LEMIT Leadership Command College, FBI National Academy, or other criminal justice/law enforcement command leadership & management training facility is required.
Experience: A minimum of 10 years full time paid Texas peace officer experience with 10 years progressively responsible supervisory experience in municipal law enforcement with a minimum of 7 years of command staff level experience is required. Candidates should have extensive knowledge of and skill in administrative, supervisory, budgetary and management principles. Starting salary $59,000. Deadline: February 17, 2012 at 5:00 pm.
 
Fire Fighter/Paramedic
Job Description: Must have current TCFP certification (at time of application) and must be currently certified by the Texas Department of State Health Services as a Paramedic (at time of application). Starting salary $40,575 based on 2920 hours per year plus overtime. Deadline: Open until filled.
