Purpose
To hear and decide appeals where it is alleged there is error in any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an administrative official of the City in the enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance; To authorize upon appeal in specific cases a variance from the terms of the Zoning Ordinance as will not be contrary to the public interest where, due to special conditions, a literal enforcement of the provisions of the Zoning Ordinance will result in unnecessary hardship, and so that the spirit of the Zoning Ordinance shall be observed and substantial justice done; To hear and decide other matters authorized by the Zoning Ordinance or any further zoning ordinance adopted by the City Council.
Membership
The Board of Adjustment consists of five (5) members and four (4) alternate members – appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council
