City Of Shavano Park

Public Works

The Public Works Department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the City’s facilities and infrastructure. The Department maintains the City’s water distribution system, streets, drainage, and building maintenance, as well as providing assistance with building permits and inspections, code enforcement, solid waste and animal control issues.

The City of Shavano Park’s water distribution system serves a large portion of the City—currently 676 accounts. The Department maintains the infrastructure which includes a number of wells, pumps, ground and elevated storage tanks.

Investments have been made to make many improvements to the water system which includes the installation of larger water mains, connecting mains to make continuous loops, installing a monitoring system called SCADA, replacing water meters that enable us to provide useful data for assisting our rate payers to detect any possible water leaks, and utilizing variable frequency drive technology. In 2010, a new Trinity Aquifer Well will be brought on-line and incorporated into the existing distribution system.

Public Works employs a staff of seven, and we are dedicated to ensuring our City is well maintained for all of our current and potential residents and business owners.
